Any property owner or authorized agent who intends to conduct an operation or business, or install or modify systems and equipment which is regulated by the California Fire Code must first make an application to Santa Barbara County Fire Department and obtain a permit.
A CFC operational permit allows the applicant to conduct an operation or a business that is regulated by the CFC. Typically permits are required for operations that are hazardous or could result in harm to the public if not conducted according to fire code requirements. Examples would include use and storage of flammable liquids or hazardous materials, welding and hot work, high piled combustible stock, tents, special events, etc.
The majority of CFC operational permits are obtained through the Inspection Services Program. Contact the Inspection Services Department at 805-686-5077 to initiate the process. Some operational permit applications that can be obtained on this website are for tent permits and special event permits. Click on the buttons below.
